Our clinical psychotherapists draw on a range of evidence-based modalities to help you cultivate greater mastery over your emotions, thoughts, and responses to life’s challenges. By integrating Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), this
approach gently supports healing from past experiences, strengthens emotional regulation, and fosters lasting change. Together, these modalities reduce the weight of traumatic memories, calm the nervous system, and unravel long-standing patterns that no longer serve you — allowing your mind and body to return to a state of balance, resilience, and growth
INTAKE & ASSESSMENT
We start with an initial session to understand your concerns, goals, and history. This
may be done by phone or face-to-face.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR STORY
We explore your history in more depth, clearly identify key issues, and develop a
personalised plan for your care.
TREATMENT PLANNING
We review your individual treatment plan and, if EMDR is suitable, obtain informed
consent so you know exactly what to expect.
BUILDING SAFETY & SKILLS
Early sessions focus on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and
coping strategies, ensuring you feel stable and supported.
EMDR & TRAUMA PROCESSING
Once safety is established and you feel more stable in your daily life, we move to
EMDR: identifying target memories and processing them in a structured, supportive way to help reduce distress and support emotional integration.
In the background we can liaise with your support network at THERAPY™, as well as your broader professional supports including GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and other allied health providers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Hi there, my name is Joy and I’m a clinical psychotherapist with a background in integrative psychotherapy, and psychology. I have pursued advanced training in trauma-focused and evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Schema Therapy, DBT, and psychedelic-assisted therapy. Alongside this, I am also a neurodynamic breathwork facilitator, which allows me to integrate mind–body practices into the healing process.
In my work, I support people navigating a wide range of challenges, including complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief, and complex mental health concerns. I bring a neuro-affirming, compassionate approach that recognises the uniqueness of each person’s story, as well as their processing and learning styles – tailoring therapy to meet individual needs and goals.
What excites me most about working with clients at THERAPY is witnessing the moments of transformation — when people begin to feel unstuck, reconnect with themselves, and move toward greater resilience and fulfilment. It’s a privilege to walk alongside clients in their healing journey and to provide a space where growth, safety, and new possibilities can emerge.
Can’t wait to meet you!
CBT can support you in identifying unhelpful thinking habits and developing more balanced, adaptive ways of viewing yourself and your experiences.
DBT can supports emotional regulation and distress tolerance through evidence-based skills that promote stability and wellbeing.
Schema Therapy can help you understand and transform deep-seated patterns that influence how you think, feel, and connect.
EMDR can gently help reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional and physical intensity and creating space for greater calm and clarity.
Psychotherapy provides a structured, confidential space to explore patterns of thought, behaviour, and emotion. Sessions are delivered by qualified practitioners with training in trauma-informed care, mood regulation, and emotional resilience.
Each consult is tailored to the client, integrating therapeutic models such as cognitive-behavioural approaches, mindfulness-based strategies, and somatic awareness.

Physical benefits:
By reducing stress and improving emotional regulation, psychotherapy can alleviate tension-related physical symptoms such as headaches, poor sleep, and fatigue.
Mental health benefits: Supports recovery from trauma, improves resilience, and builds clarity.
Gut–brain connection: Lowered stress responses reduce gut hypersensitivity, easing digestive discomfort linked to anxiety.
EMDR Session – 60 min – $210
A specialised trauma-focused therapy that uses guided eye movements or bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess distressing memories. EMDR is evidence-based
and widely used for post-traumatic stress, phobias, and unresolved emotional experiences.
Physical benefits:
Research suggests that psychotherapy may help reduce stress and support emotional regulation, which in some cases can be associated with improvements in tension-related
physical symptoms, such as headaches, sleep difficulties, and fatigue.
Mental health benefits:
Psychotherapy can enhance resilience, promote greater clarity and coping skills and support recovery from trauma.
Gut–brain connection:
Some studies indicate that by lowering stress responses, psychotherapy may indirectly ease gut discomfort linked to anxiety, highlighting the connection between emotional
wellbeing and physical health.
Why Psychotherapy at THERAPY™ is different:
At THERAPY™, we take a holistic approach to psychological support. Research suggests that supporting thoughts, emotions, and the body’s stress response can enhance the way people cope with life’s challenges and recover stressful or distressing experiences. By combining talk therapy with practices that promote stress management and bodily awareness, clients may experience benefits that extend beyond traditional psychotherapy alone.
